Painting Stormtroopers

What you will need to paint Imperial Stormtroopers

Brushes: Standard brush, detail brush
Water-based acrylic paint colors: Black, grey, white
Paint-to-water ratio: 50:50 for all colors and mixes
Techniques: Layering, highlighting

Layering: Evenly spread paint over the surface of the model.
Highlighting: Evenly apply paint along the edges of the model, closest to the light.

Stormtrooper-Step-1

 

1) After the model is prepped and primed black, using a standard brush, layer the armored area of the model with a coat of Grey. Leave the helmet visor, gloves, blaster, and areas between the armor pieces black.

2) Using a standard brush and/or detail brush, layer the armor plates with a mix of Grey and White (50:50). Be sure not to get any paint in the recess of the armor.

3) Using a standard brush and/or detail brush, layer the armor plates with a coat White. Be sure not to get any paint in the recessed areas of the armor. You may need to repeat this step multiple times.

4) Using a standard brush, layer the helmet visor, gloves, blaster, and areas between the armor pieces with a mix of Black and Grey (70:30).

5) Using a detail brush, highlight the prominent areas and edges of he gloves and blaster with a Grey.

6) Using a detail brush, highlight the most prominent areas and edges of the gloves (knuckles) and blaster (barrel tip and scope) with a mix of Grey and White (50:50)(Optional).
